Does cannabis cause cancer?

Posted by: Matt Dioguardi   in drug war

I would recommend someone smoke cannabis as much as I would recommend they smoke tobacco or take prozac. That is I wouldn’t recommend it at all. It’s unhealthy.

Personally, I drink too much coffee and tea. But whatever …

Ultimately, the idea that tobacco and alcohol are safe drugs, but cannabis is dangerous is utterly false. Yet American media and government have pushed this idea on everyone to the point of absurdity.

In America, get this, 1 in 100 people are now in jail.

That is a staggering statistic. 1 in 100 people in jail? What a waste of resources, let those people out so they can work. What a waste of government money to have to maintain these prisons.

Now ask yourself this, how many people are in jail for having purchased, used or sold cannabis? If nothing else let *those* people out.

Legalize cannabis so that minors can’t get it. That’s right, it’s easier for minors to get cannabis than alcohol, because alcohol isn’t sold on the black market.

And hey, how about all the insurance money that goes into all these high profile drugs like Prozac and whatever. Most of that money is just to cover the patent. If you’re going to take that kind of stuff, might as well smoke cannabis. That would save huge amounts of money. You can grow it in your backyard so it’s nearly free. (Believe me the drugs companies do not want cannabis legal.)

I mention all this because there’s a good article at the Lew Rockwell site today on how the media systematically misreports about the dangers of cannabis smoking.

Check it out.

No you probably shouldn’t smoke cannabis, but that’s something for you to decide, not the government.
